David Booth 1948 - 2010

We were saddened to hear of the death of one of our European Swingers, David Booth, aged 62,  who passed away recently following a car accident. David only recently started taking part in Swingers having been recommended by his good friend Jon Crickmore.

Our thoughts go out to David's family and friends at this sad time. Below Jon writes a few words about his friend.

We first met when he had just bought “me” on Ebay – more specifically a round of golf with me for £15. I had listed this as a joke, partly to amuse my mother-in-law and did not really think that it would sell. My wife was shocked when it did, more so when she found out that the purchaser had also just bought a sexy French maids outfit in size 22. Her immediate suspicion was that I was going to have to wear the outfit when I played. Luckily this was not the case when David and I arranged to play with Howard & my friend Steve at S&A.

The photograph here was taken at Southport & Ainsdale golf club when we first played together - David is pictured on the right, it is somewhere that I played often with David and from now on when I go there, I will be thinking of David as I walk the fairways, searching for those wayward balls in the heather and sinking that final putt on the 18th.

I will always remember David as one of the wisest souls that I have had the privilege to meet and I will miss him very much. I’ll always regret not spending more time in his company, we were always laughing together when we saw one another and although neither one of us could be described as a great golfer we had some great times in golf together.
