Swingers favour Portugal for Ryder Cup

news_538_rydercup_197741d.jpg

Last month we ask the question where in Europe should the Ryder Cup go next? Six nations in total have put their names in the hat ranging from the very strong bid from France through to the previous Ryder Cup hosts Spain. You Swingers felt Portugal had the strongest case for being hosts (36%) with old favourite Spain close behind (26%).

Good old US-Europe rivalry obviously influenced your comments. As European Swinger George Copley said, “Why play on courses designed like US courses, play links golf and make the Americans suffer, the windier the better and Captain's picks could then be players used to the conditions. We should try to get as much "home" advantage as possible and that includes the course and accessibility for a large number of loyal supporters."

US Swinger David Hendler replied, “Portugal and Spain offer the best chance at good weather for players and spectators! Even for many in the EU, is it really worth the price of admission to see the USA win another Ryder Cup in the rain??!?!? At least if the weather is nice, those supporting the EU can enjoy the sun...”
