SWING ANALYSIS
Fancy getting some tips from a pro for free?
All you need to do is get someone to film your swing with a camcorder or digi camera.
Once you have your footage, you first need to upload it to youtube first. To do this simply click here to set up a youtube account and then click the upload button in the right hand corner of your screen.
Your video footage should be no more than 2GB and 10 mins in length.
Once uploaded to youtube, send us an email and we will choose three swings per month for our resident Swingers pro to analyse and give tips on.
Please view Terms & Conditions for full details.
DAVE HICKS
This month Dave Hicks receives the swing analysis treatment from our resident pro, Andy Ryan of Manor House Golf Club.
Here are Andy's comments:
Lack of shoulder turn causes the arms to swing up to complete the backswing. The club is not swung behind the player enough. This causes an out to in swing path and a steep approach to the ball. The out to in path is the cause of the toe strike and the steep approach is the cause of the heavy impact. It's hard to say from this angle, but weight transfer back and through probably hasnt happened.
How to fix it!
Greater shoulder turn (try to get left shoulder underneith chin) would encourage the club to be swung behind the player more, fixing both the path through the ball and the angle of approach. (the more you swing the club behind you, the more likely it will come from 'in to out' and be more shallow on its approach to the ball). Work on weight transfer (back and through) while trying to sweep the grass, without taking a divot.
Best of Luck!

STEVE CAMPBELL
Next up to have their swing analysed is European Club Swinger Steve Campbell and here's the comments of our resident pros Andy and Amy from the Exclusive Hotels group.
The Analysis:
Steve has quite a substantial 'in to out' swing path which means he has to fight his clubhead release because if he did then the ball would go a long way left. We suspect that Steve's bad shots are a combination of pushes and pulls depending on whether he holds off or releases the club face.
We therefore suggest working on clubface release with a little swing path adjustment.
The Drill:
1) Firstly double check your ball position, it may be a little too far back which doesn't help us in our quest to release the clubhead.
2) Place a club running parallel to your ball to target line by your right foot and another running parallel to the target line by your left foot.
3) During your takeaway (a couple of yards away from ball) the club should be in line with the right club and most importantly for you the toe of the club should be pointing up to the sky. If it points to the right the club face is open. If it points to the left your clubface is closed.
4) On your halfway back position your left arm should be parallel with the right club.
5) After impact your club should release making sure that 1 1/2 yards after impact your club should be pointing up to the sky again and the club should be parallel to the left club. After this point the club and forearms will naturally release.
The key for you Steve is to allow the club to release naturally so point that club to the sky twice in your swing and the Flying Swinger Club Final will be yours for the taking!
Happy Swinging!

JON CRICKMORE
Our first swing to be analysed belongs to European Club Swinger Jon Crickmore and here's the comments of our resident pros Andy and Amy from the Exclusive Hotels group.
Analysis - An all round great swing with good connection, leverage and clubhead speed. Advice for the player would be to work on getting his weight on the right side on the back swing and then transferring this weight forward through impact. This will enable his arms and lower body to work together resulting in more club head speed and creating space for the club to travel on the correct swing path on the downswing.
The Drill - A good drill for this would be to hit balls trying to step forward with the right foot immediately after impact. The trick being that you have to shift your weight onto the back foot in order to create the movement required in the forward swing.
Watch Out - Be careful when doing the drill that you don't transfer your weight by laterally swaying. Instead concentrate on rotating or turning your right hip. If you need to check this place a umbrella or pole gently touching your right hip at set up. When reaching the backswing check your weight is on your right foot but your hip is not pressing or moving the umbrella.
Well done for being the first person to put their swing up for analysis, very brave.
Happy golfing!
