1.5 Players must select the part of the world (Europe or Rest of the World) in which they currently reside in rather than the part of the world which they were born in.
1.6 A European Swinger with an official handicap may choose to become a European Fun Swinger, but a European Swinger with no handicap can not become a European Club Swinger.
1.7 Where a Fun Swinger is actually a Golf Club member we reserve the right to adjust their starting handicap to be in line with their club handicap should we feel it benefits the integrity of the league.
1.8 Any Fun or Rest of the World Swinger returning from Season Six will be allowed a starting handicap of no more than 3 strokes greater than their finishing handicap at the end of Season Six. We reserve the right to adjust any starting handicaps which don’t comply with this rule.

This restriction does not apply to any employees of Virgin Atlantic Airways Limited (or their immediate families) who are not directly connected with the creation and administration of the league. However, these persons will not be eligible for any competitions or prizes or be able to participate in the final regardless of their position on the leaderboard.
1.11 In order to qualify for the end of season final (to be held 19-22 September 2010), Swingers must have completed a minimum of one Virgin Atlantic flight earning activity within 12 months of the prize being awarded (between 23 August 2009 – 23 August 2010). 1.12 Unless otherwise stated, in order to be eligible for any competitions or prizes within Flying Club Swingers (excluding the final) Swingers must have taken a Virgin Atlantic Flying Club or Partner earning or spending activity during a rolling 12 month period working back from the date that the prize is awarded.
1.13 A Flying Club account with activity is defined by having taken an earning or spending activity with Virgin Atlantic or a Flying Club Partner within 12 months of a Swinger winning a prize.
This may include a flight with Virgin Atlantic or one of our Airline Partners, a stay with a Hotel Partner, Car Rental, activity with a Financial Services Partner, or with a Virgin Group or Local Partner. 1.15 The organisers of Flying Club Swingers reserve the right to validate the Account activity of any Swinger before Prizes are confirmed. Any account that does not have activity showing at the time of the Prize awarded will be deemed inactive.

2. Submitting a Score

2.1 Whether a Player becomes a Rest of the World Swinger, a European Club Swinger or a European Fun Swinger will affect the type of scores they can enter.
2.2 Rest of the World Swingers can enter three types of score for the purpose of gaining league points. Rest of the World Swingers can enter any Stroke Play score, Match Play result against another Swinger or a Corporate/Society Day score.
2.3 European Club Swingers can enter four types of score for the purpose of gaining league points. European Club Swingers can enter a Club Competition Medal score, Club Competition Stableford score, Match Play result against another Swinger or a Corporate/Society Day score.
2.4 European Fun Swingers can enter three types of score for the purpose of gaining league points. European Fun Swingers can enter a Fun Round score, a Match Play result against another Swinger or a Corporate/Society Day score.
2.5. For European Club Swingers, all Club Competitions must have been played in the UK or Eire or at overseas clubs which are affiliated to the EGU. We will require proof of such affiliation.
2.6 Where any Swinger enters more than one Corporate/Society Day score, only their best Corporate/Society Day scores will count towards their total six best scores.
2.7 Scores can not be entered in multiple categories - i.e. the same match play score can not be also entered as a corporate golf day or club competition score.
2.8 Nine hole rounds can be entered, although European Club Swinger can only enter rounds from 9 hole courses as matchplays. Nine hole corporate/society rounds are not accepted.
2.9 Scores will only be accepted if they have been submitted online first. We will not accept scores in the post unless there is already a record or them on the site.

3. Stroke Play Scores (Rest of the World Swingers Only)

3.1 Only Rest of the World Swingers can enter any type of Stroke Play scores, whether a casual round or a competition round.
3.2 When entering Stroke Play scores, the Player will be asked to provide the following information:

Round Date
Name of Golf Club
Location
Course Name (if more than one course)
Par
Handicap Used
Gross Score (total strokes played)

3.3 Where a Player does not possess a current handicap, and until such time as they are allocated a ‘fun’ handicap, the handicap that they use for the Stroke Play round must be agreed by all playing partners subject to point 1.8.The maximum handicap for men is 28, the maximum for ladies is 45. The administrators reserve the right to check handicaps of Rest of the World Swingers and allocate a new one or amend an existing one based on previous scores submitted to Flying Club Swingers. Handicaps will be amended according to United Kingdom CONGU handicap rules (see www.congu.com).
Where handicaps increase, we choose not to use the buffer zones provided by CONGU. We reserve the right to back date ‘fun’ handicaps where necessary which may affect a Swinger’s previous points scores. We also reserve the right to amend a Swinger's starting handicap where that handicap is more than 3 strokes greater than the handicap used in a previous season.
3.4 Please note only gross scores can be submitted in this category. If the round played is a Stableford round, the player must convert the score to show number of strokes taken. If on any hole, the Swinger has a ‘no score’, for the purposes of this competition, this should be converted to 9 strokes.
3.5 A Rest of the World Swinger can enter as many Stroke Play Round scores as they wish.
3.6 The Player will then be asked to complete a form attaching a scan of the scorecard signed by the Player and one of their partners with their name and date clearly stated. If required, this can be posted, faxed or emailed separately to the contact details displayed on the site. All completed entries must be received within one calendar month of the Stroke Play Round having taken place unless otherwise stated. If the Player fails to provide the necessary verification within the one calendar month period, the score will be deleted. It is the Player's responsibility to remember to send the necessary verification. Please note if the score in question is a club competition score and the Player does not have possession of the card, they may provide another form of verification such as golf association websites which list competition scores, or golf club emails verifying the score.
3.7 The par of the course minus the gross score of the Player minus handicap used on the day will calculate the Player’s point score. For example, if the par is 72 and they take 94 shots off a handicap of 24, this is 72 – (94-24) = 2 better than handicap, therefore they earn 2 points. However, if they take 98 shots, this is 72 – (98-24) = -2 worse than handicap, therefore they earn –2 points.

4. Medal Scores (Europe Club Swingers only)

4.1 Only European Club Swingers can enter Competition Medal scores. (See Section 3 regarding Rest of the World Swingers entering Club Competition Scores).
4.2 When entering Competition Medal scores, the Player will be asked to provide the following information:

Date of Competition
Name of Golf Club
Location
Club Tel. No. (if known)
Course Name (if more than one course)
Par
Current Handicap
Competition Scratch Score (the club at which the competition is held will calculate this at the end of each competition)
Gross Score

4.3 It is the responsibility of the Player to obtain the Competition Scratch Score (CSS) from the club.
4.4 We will then calculate the Player’s net score and depending on the CSS on the day, their points score. For example, if a member scores a gross score of 82 and their handicap is 12, their net score is 70. If the CSS on the day is 72, they scored 2 shots better, hence 2 points. However, if they score a gross score of 86 and their handicap is 12, their net score is 74. If the CSS on the day is 72, they scored 2 shots worse, hence –2 points.
4.5 Their score will be automatically added to their list of point's scores. All entries must be received within one calendar month of the competition having taken place unless otherwise stated. Players can enter as many Club Competition Medal scores as they wish.
4.6 We are unable to accept scores from competitions which do not have a CSS and therefore do not qualify for handicapping purposes. All scores entered here must be from qualifying competitions. In certain circumstances, where the non qualifying score can be verified by the club, we will allow you to enter it as a friendly score on the corporate/society submission form. If in doubt, please ask your club.

5. Stableford Scores (Europe Club Swingers Only)

5.1 Only European Club Swingers can enter Competition Stableford scores.
5.2 When entering Competition Stableford scores, the Player will be asked to provide the following information:

Date of Competition
Name of Golf Club
Location
Club Tel. No. (if known)
Course Name (if more than one course)
Par
Current Handicap
Competition Scratch Score (the club at which the competition is held will calculate this at the end of each competition)
Points Scored

5.3 It is the responsibility of the Player to obtain the Competition Scratch Score (CSS) from the club.
5.4 We will then calculate the Player's points score depending on the course par and the CSS on the day. For example, if they score 40 points, the par is 72 yet the CSS on the day is 74, they will have effectively scored 6 better than their handicap, 40-36 + (74-72) = 6, therefore they earn 6 points. However, if they score 40 points, the par is 72, yet the CSS is 70, they will have effectively only scored 2 better than their handicap, 40-36 + (70-72) = 2, therefore they earn 2 points.
5.5 Their score will be automatically added to their list of point's scores. All entries must be received within one calendar month of the competition having taken place unless otherwise stated. Players can enter as many Club Competition Stableford scores as they wish.
5.6 We are unable to accept scores from competitions which do not have a CSS and therefore do not qualify for handicapping purposes. All scores entered here must be from qualifying competitions. In certain circumstances where the non qualifying score can be verified by the club, we will allow you to enter it as a friendly score on the corporate/society form submission form. If in doubt, please ask your club.

6. Match Play Scores (All Swingers)

6.1 All Swingers can enter Match Play scores.
6.2 When entering Match Play scores, the Player will be asked to provide the following information:

Date of Match
Name of Golf Club
Location
Course Name (if more than one course)
Current Handicap
Name of member played against and their handicap
Result
Result Detail (e.g. won 4&3, 2&1 etc)

6.3 Where a Player does not possess a current handicap, both parties in the arranged Match must agree what handicap that Player should play off for the purposes of Match Play.
6.4 The handicap allowance for any Match Play competition is at the discretion of both Players.
6.5 Only Match Play scores can be entered when playing against another member, where each hole is recorded as a win, a half (draw) or a loss and the player who wins the most holes wins the match. Both players must be registered on Flying Club Swingers.
6.6 The Player will be asked to complete a form attaching a scan of the scorecard signed by both members with their names and date clearly printed, which confirms consent to points 6.2, 6.3 and 6.4. If required, this can also be posted, faxed or emailed separately to the contact details displayed on the site. All completed entries must be received within one calendar month of the match having taken place, unless otherwise stated. If the Player fails to provide the necessary verification within one calendar month period (i.e. the scorecard), the score will be deleted. It is the Player's responsibility to remember to send the necessary verification.
6.7 The winner of the match will receive 2 points, the loser will receive 0 points. If the match is halved, each player will receive 1 point.
6.8 A Player is only allowed to play the same member twice in one season. However Swingers can play against any other Swinger in any of the Swingers Leagues (Europe and Rest of the World). Members can enter as many Match Play scores as they wish. If playing a fourball, you may play three Match Play rounds at the same time against your other three partners.
6.9 We do not accept match play scores from official club competitions or against players who are not registered Swingers.

7. Corporate/Society Day Scores (All Swingers)

7.1 All Swingers can enter Corporate/Society Day scores although each Player is limited to just one Corporate/Society Day scores counting towards their six best scores.
7.2 When entering Corporate/Society Day scores, the Player will be asked to provide the following information:

Competition Date
Name of Golf Club
Location
Name of Corporate/Society Day
Course Name (if more than one course)
Par
Current Handicap
Points Score

7.3 Where a Player does not possess a current handicap or where their official handicap is higher than the handicap played on the day, the handicap that they play off of in the Corporate/Society Day will be at the discretion of the Golf Day organisers subject to point 1.8. For Corporate/Society days, Rest of the World and European Fun Swingers should play off their allocated ‘fun’ handicap if they have one although exceptions will apply if the corporate/society round is played before a fun handicap is updated and the handicap used is the previous fun handicap allocated to the player. The maximum handicap for men is 28, the maximum for ladies is 45. The administrators reserve the right to randomly check handicaps of Swingers who are golf club members to ensure no foul play.
7.4 Please note only Individual Stableford Competition scores can be submitted in this category.
7.5 A Player can enter as many Corporate/Society Day scores as they wish but only the best one will count towards their six best scores total. All scores should be based on full handicap allowance.
7.6 The Player will then be asked to complete a form attaching a scan of the scorecard signed by the Player and the golf day organiser with the name of the day, their name and date clearly stated. If required, this can be posted, faxed or emailed separately to the contact details displayed on the site. All completed entries must be received within one calendar month of the Corporate/Society Day having taken place unless otherwise stated. If the Player fails to provide the necessary verification within the one calendar month period (i.e. the scorecard), the score will be deleted. It is the Player's responsibility to remember to send the necessary verification.
7.7 The Stableford points score will calculate the Player's points score. For example, if they score 40 Stableford points, this is 40-36 = 4 better than handicap, therefore they earn 4 points. However, if they score 34 points, this is 34-36 = -2 worse than handicap, therefore they earn –2 points.

8. Fun Round Scores (Europe Fun Swingers Only)

8.1 Only European Fun Swingers can enter Fun Round scores. (See Section 3 regarding Rest of the World Swingers entering casual Stroke Play rounds).
8.2 When entering Fun Round scores, the Player will be asked to provide the following information:
Round Date
Name of Golf Club
Location
Course Name (if more than one course)
Par
Handicap Used
Gross Score

8.3 Where a Player does not possess a current handicap, and until such time as they are allocated a ‘fun’ handicap, the handicap that they use for the Fun Round must be agreed by all playing partners subject to point 1.8.The maximum handicap for men is 28, the maximum for ladies is 45. The administrators reserve the right to check handicaps of European Fun Swingers and allocate a new one or amend an existing one based on previous scores or other information available to Flying Club Swingers. We also reserve the right to amend a Swinger's starting handicap where the handicap used is more than three strokes greater than the handicap used in a previous season.
8.4 Please note only gross scores can be submitted in this category. If the round played is a Stableford round, the player must convert the score to show number of strokes taken. If on any hole, the Swinger has a ‘no score’, for the purposes of this competition, this should be converted to 9 strokes.
8.5 A Player can enter as many Fun Round scores as they wish.
8.6 The Player will then be asked to complete a form attaching a scan of the scorecard signed by the Player and one of their partners with their name and date clearly stated. If required, this can be posted, faxed or emailed separately to the contact details displayed on the site. All completed entries must be received within one calendar month of the Fun Round having taken place unless otherwise stated. If the Player fails to provide the necessary verification within the one calendar month period (i.e. the scorecard), the score will be deleted. It is the Player's responsibility to remember to send the necessary verification.
8.7 The par of the course minus the gross score of the Player minus handicap used on the day will calculate the Player’s point score. For example, if the par is 72 and they take 94 shots off a handicap of 24, this is 72 – (94-24) = 2 better than handicap, therefore they earn 2 points. However, if they 98, this is 72 – (98-24) = -2 worse than handicap, therefore they earn –2 points.

9. The Leaderboards

9.1 There will be three leaderboards – Rest of the World Swingers, Europe Club Swingers, Europe Fun Swingers.
9.2 For all scores submitted, a Player’s points score is automatically calculated and added to their list of points. However for all Rest of the World Stroke Play, European Fun, Match Play and Corporate/Society Day scores, where the score is one of the six scores making up the total golf league points, the score will be flagged as requiring verification.
9.3 The league table calculates each Player’s six overall best point scores, which forms their total golf league points and therefore determines their position. Therefore in order for their total golf league points to increase, they need to submit a score better than one of their six previous best scores. For example, if so far a Player’s best scores are 4,4,4,3,2,1 making a total 18 points, if they score 4 points, their points total increases to 21 (4,4,4,4,3,2). If they score 1 points however, it remains at 18.
9.4 Please note a Player should still enter scores that don’t necessarily improve their total golf league points, because at the end of the season, any one still tied on points and bonus points will have the number of scores entered taken into account to determine who qualifies for the end of season Final. If number of scores entered and bonus points are tied, then qualification for the Final will be determined by the quality of the first valid score entered.
9.5 For a league position to count towards the end of season Final, a Player must have submitted a minimum of six qualifying scores.
9.6 Please note that as the site automatically converts all scores in to a points score, there are some safety mechanisms to ensure that scores entered are true. If the score is 4 points or better, and is one of the six scores making up a players total golf league points, it will be flagged as  ‘exceptional’. The Player will immediately receive a message to say that as the score is of this standard, it will appear on their profile as requiring verification and their league position (if counting towards their six best scores) will be shown in italics and will not count towards Final qualification until it has been verified by the administrator. Verification will involve the administrator calling the club to check their competition score is in fact true. Once verified, the points score will be shown as normal as will the leaderboard position. Please note if the score is 7 points or better (this applies to all types of scores), and is one of the six scores making up a players total golf league points, it will be ‘quarantined’. Again, the Player will immediately receive a message to say that the score will not appear on their profile or their league position until it has been verified. Once verified with the club, the points score will be added.
9.7 All Match Play. Rest of the World Stroke Play, European Fun Round and Corporate/Society Day scores, which are one of the six scores making up a player's total golf league points, will be flagged as 'exceptional' and will require verification in the form of a completed scorecard, as detailed in Sections 3,6,7 & 8 of these Terms & Conditions.
9.8 Any one in a qualifying position for the Final at the end of the season will have all their scores checked by the administrators for a second time to ensure no foul play.
9.9 By clicking on any player name in the league table, you will be able to view that player’s profile and list of points scores.

10. Updating A Player Profile

10.1 A Player’s profile can be updated at any time during the season.
10.2 However, once a Player has chosen their region (Europe or Rest of the World) and subsequent league, they can not change leagues until the end of the Season.
10.3 A Player profile will only ever display name, region/league, leaderboard position, golf club (if applicable), handicap (if applicable), location/area, photo, most embarrassing/funniest golf moment, and list of scores and bonus points.

11. Photo Competitions

11.1 A Player can send the administrator pictures and descriptions of themselves which are golf related and deemed funny and suitable for viewing on the site (Funny Photo Competition). A Player can also send the administrator any scenic golf photography they have taken (Golf Photography Competition). Each month we will choose the best picture in each category and the winning Players will receive £25 worth of Virgin Vouchers. A Player can enter as many times as they like. To qualify however, the Player must have first posted a picture of themselves on their Player profile so that we can verify the competition photo evidence is actually involving the Player.
11.2 We do not condone breaking the rules of the game of golf and/or any golf clubs visited. We will not be held responsible should a Player act outside of these rules.
11.3 We reserve the right to not publish photos or captions if we deem them obscene, pornographic or liable to harm or cause offence to others.
11.4 Occasionally, we may run themed photo competitions on a particular topic for a separate prize. The same rules will apply.
11.5 In order to qualify for any prizes, the Player must have a Flying Club account with activity as described in points 1.12 and 1.13
11.6 The administrator’s decision is final.

12. Video of the Month Competition

12.1 A Player can email us details of any golf related videos uploaded to youtube (see instructions on uploading on the site). Each month we will choose the best video and the winner will receive a Stewart Golf stand bag. A Player can enter as many times as they like. To qualify however, the Player must have first posted a picture of themselves on their Player profile so that we can verify the competition video evidence is actually involving the Player.
12.2 We do not condone breaking the rules of the game of golf and/or any golf clubs visited. We will not be held responsible should a Player act outside of these rules.
12.3 We reserve the right to not publish videos if we deem them obscene, pornographic or liable to harm or cause offence to others.
12.4 In order to qualify for any prizes, the Player must have a Flying Club account with activity as described in points 1.12 and 1.13
12.5 The administrator’s decision is final.

14. Earning Bonus Points

14.1 A Player can earn bonus points, which are added to their bonus points total, by playing golf at a Virgin Atlantic destination. The Player must have flown with Virgin Atlantic to this destination. The bonus points total is used to determine league positions if players are tied on the same number of points. Virgin Atlantic destinations are: Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, Glasgow, Boston, New York, Washington DC, Orlando, Miami, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Shanghai, Cuba, Jamaica, Antigua, St Lucia, Barbados, Grenada, Tobago, Lagos, Nairobi, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Dubai, Mauritius, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Sydney, Mumbai, Delhi.
14.2 To earn the bonus points, Players must send electronic photo evidence of themselves playing at the destination. They will also have their flight details checked. We can only verify their booking/playing, if a) they have quoted their Flying Club number at the time of booking, and b) that the class of travel is a qualifying flight earning miles and registering as an activity on their Flying Club account. As well as being able to scan the photo on the page, this photo can also be emailed separately to the contact details displayed on the site. All completed entries must be received within one calendar month of the round having taken place unless otherwise stated. If their submission does not prove beyond all reasonable doubt that they actually played at the venue and flew Virgin Atlantic, they will be requested to send a venue scorecard signed and dated by themselves.
14.3 Once verified by us, we will add two points to the Player’s bonus points total.
14.4 A Player may also earn three bonus points by recommending a friend to join Flying Club Swingers. The three bonus points will only be awarded once the recommended friend has registered as a Flying Club Swinger and has submitted their first verified score. If that score is at a later stage deemed incorrect or not verified, the three bonus points will be removed from the Player who has recommended the friend. The Player who has recommended the friend must also have submitted a valid score for the bonus points to count. The recommended friend must register with exactly the same email address as the recommender submitted to Flying Club Swingers. Failure to do so (including spelling mistakes) will result in bonus points not being allocated to the Player recommending.
14.5 From time to time, we may run promotional bonus points competitions where additional bonus points are available for playing in a particular destination.
14.6 Please note the maximum number of bonus points per submission is either three or two subject to point 14.5. If a Player has won a prize through the site to a promoted venue, they may not then submit an entry for bonus points when claiming that prize.
14.7 Only one submission per venue or destination on any one trip or month is allowed. A Player can recommend as many friends as they like and will receive bonus points for every recommended friend who enters a verified score having registered using exactly the same email address as recommended. A Player will not received bonus points for recommending a friend who has previously been a registered Swinger in Season Six. To qualify for bonus points, they must have first posted a picture of themselves on their player profile so that we can verify the competition photo evidence is actually involving the member.
14.8 Bonus points applications will be published on the Gallery. However, we reserve the right to not publish photos or captions if we deem them obscene, pornographic or liable to harm or cause offence to others.
14.9 All bonus points submissions must be received complete with supplementary evidence by 0900 on Monday 23 August 2010. All entries that qualify for bonus points must have taken place within the dates of the Flying Club Swingers Season (i.e. 27 February  2010 to 20 August 2010).
14.10 At the end of the season, the Swinger with the most bonus points earned will win a pair of Economy tickets to any Virgin Atlantic destination subject to points 14.11 and 14.12. Blackout dates and Prize Winner terms and conditions apply.
14.11 If the Swinger with the most bonus points has already qualified for the final, the prize will be passed to the Swinger with the next most bonus points and so on.
14.12 In order to qualify for any prizes, the Player must have a Flying Club account with activity as described in points 1.12 and 1.13
14.13 The administrator’s decision is final.

15. Arranging A Match Play (Player Search)

15.1 In order to find fellow Flying Club Swingers to play a round of golf with, we have provided a Player Search facility. By searching for players within a chosen area, Players can click on listed players to view their player profile, as they can by clicking on their name on the scoreboard.
15.2 Within the player profile, a member can submit a message by clicking the link. Although for privacy reasons, we do not provide email addresses, we will forward the Player’s message on to the relevant member. Any reply will be sent back via us, at which stage it is up to Players whether to disclose their contact details to each other.
15.3 If a Player does not want to be contacted by other Players, they can indicate this on creation of the Player profile. Should a Player not wish to be contacted, a link to submit a message will not appear on their Player profile.

16. Player of the Month

16.1 The Rest of the World and European Players of the Month will be chosen from a shortlist of those Players who have made the biggest impact on Flying Club Swingers during the relevant month. The administrator’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
16.2 The chosen Player of the Months will be interviewed and their pictures and answers will be displayed on the Player of the Month page for the rest of the month. For a player to be chosen as Player of the Month, they must agree to have their photograph and interview displayed, and they must have a picture displayed on their Player profile.
16.3 The Rest of the World and European Player of the Month will each receive a prize consisting of a £150 voucher which can be used at any Marriott property worldwide. The voucher can be used for payment at check-in and will be redeemed in pounds or converted into the local currency value at the hotel's exchange rate.
16.4  In order to qualify for any prizes, the Player must have a Flying Club account with activity as described in points 1.12 and 1.13.
