Q: What one thing has helped your form over the last month(s)?
Firstly a quick refresher lesson with my local professional. Mainly to confirm the basics are right - grip, stance, swing, ball position etc. Secondly putting a little more practice time in, and finally having a bit more self belief in the game.
Q: How long have you been a Flying Club Swinger, and what’s been your most memorable moment so far?
This is my first year in the swingers, so everything is still a bit new. I really enjoyed the Wallasey day but also both matchplay games played were against great sociable people , played in the best spirit of the game.
Q: What’s your favourite destination for playing golf, and your favourite course?
I’d have to say Florida as it offers so many great courses complemented with super weather. My favourite course is close to Daytona, the LPGA International - Hills Course. A real thinkers course with tight fairways and tricky carries.
Q: If you could arrange a Swingers match play against one golfer or celebrity, past or present, who would it be and why?
I think I’d like to play against Freddie Couples. His demeanour and pleasant outlook have always been something I’ve admired. I hope I have a little of his calmness etc around the course - though a little lacking his success.
Q: Why should fellow Swingers contact you for match play at your club?
Well, for a start I’m now a member at two clubs, Vale of llangollen is one of the finest inland courses in Wales and features stunning backdrops played around superbly maintained greens, tees and fairways. My other Club Wychwood Park is one of the toughest inland links style courses I’ve played. It presents a real challenge but as such can be fantastically rewarding and due to a great design and good maintenance plays off full tees and greens throughout the year - great for a little out of season golf !
