2019 Society Day: Walton Heath Golf Club
WALTON HEATH SOCIETY DAY INCORPORATING THE KEITH PEDLAR FRIENDSHIP TROPHY – NEW COURSE, WALTON HEATH GC, TADWORTH, SURREY
DATE: FRIDAY 3 MAY 2019
COST: £125 PER PERSON* (inc VAT)
Located in the heart of Surrey within easy reach of the M25, Walton Heath was founded in 1903 and has an illustrious past and present. Previous captains include HRH the Prince of Wales and King Edward VIII, whilst head professional, James Braid, won five Opens whilst at the club. Winston Churchill was also a regular.
As well as hosting the 2018 British Masters, Walton Heath staged the European Open from the 70s through to the 90s, the Ryder Cup in 1981, the British Ladies Amateur in 2000, and the Senior Open in 2011. U.S. Open Qualifying is now in permanent residence at Walton, as is the South of England Open Amateur Championship.
Last year our day was held on the Old Course, this year we will be playing the equally stunning New Course. The New Course shares the same open heathland setting as the Old and is a fine Championship course in its own right. It opened for play in 1907 as a nine hole layout, and extended to eighteen in 1913. The New stretches to 7199 yards off the back tees, 6648 yards off the medals, and has been ranked in the UK and Ireland’s Top 50 courses for more than ten years.
We will be combining this day with the Keith Pedlar Friendship Trophy, where we will remember Keith, dress in pink and raise money for his preferred charity SeaFarers UK alongside Virgin Atlantic’s partnership with WE.
We look forward to celebrating Keith’s life at a very special venue and crowning the winner of the Keith Pedlar Friendship Trophy on the New Course. We very much hope you will join us there.
